Youth and Family Ministry: July Update

Summer has finally arrived…the mosquitos are out in full force! I know, I know…God created mosquitos too…that is one of my questions when I get to Heaven. Why such an annoying creature? Hopefully there will not be any up there!

We are so excited for VBS June 16th through 20th. Thank you to all the volunteers who are helping make it a success. The newsletter was printed before I could report the fun, we will have but I will update the details in the August newsletter.

The theme this year is:

Whenever I’m afraid,

I put my trust in YOU.

Psalm 56:3

What a great reminder this is, brings me comfort.

The High School Graduate Celebration on June 2nd was a great success! What a great bunch of kids! I look forward to seeing where life thakes them and their adventures.

During Kids in the Kingdom (which I made the graduates join me up front on the risers) I spoke of a ministry that has been going on for many, many years. Each graduate receives a beautiful cross to hand on their wall, given by Shirley Arntsen in memory of her two sons. I did a quick count of 150 plus crosses given since 2003 and that is just the tip of the iceberg of crosses given. This prompted many people sharing where their kid’s cross was still hanging, me included. Drea’s cross is still hanging on her bedroom wall at our house and brings me a smile each time I pass by it.

Thank you, Shirley, for continuing this beautiful ministry.

What a joy it was to welcome the Jubilation Choir on June 7th; the kids were great! I even had the opportunity to join in on one of their bible studies before supper. A HUGE thank you to those who help cook, serve and clean up after feeding this group. All were so thankful. The show was fabulous, and I am still in awe of the amazing talent!

On June 9th I was joined by the 6 recipients of the various Scholarships (I made them join me during Kids in the Kingdom too). Thank you to the Scholarship committee for their dedication and hard work to this ministry…This year there was $12,500 total awarded. Bethlehem is so blessed.
