BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN CHURCH

Rite of Affirmation of Baptism

Confirmation is a time of growth, learning, and publicly affirming the faith given in baptism.

At Bethlehem, Confirmation is a ministry of nurturing and supporting our youth as they grow in their relationship with God. Together with loving adults, they seek to ask the deeper questions of life and grow together as a Christian community.

Affirmation of Faith

Pastor: “You have made public profession of your faith. Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in holy baptism.

  • To live among God’s faithful people,
  • To hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper,
  • To proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed,
  • To serve all people, following the example of Jesus,
  • And to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?

Confirmands respond: “I do, and I ask God to help and guide me.

The Confirmation Journey

At Bethlehem, Confirmation is a two and a half year process that begins in 7th grade, and completes in February of a youth’s 9th grade year on Confirmation Sunday, when youth say Yes to God who said Yes to them on the cross, the God who said Yes to us in our Baptism, the God who says Yes to us every day of our lives.

We want to see the youth of Bethlehem Lutheran Church — together with their families — living out their baptismal calling through the life-long Faith Practices.
