Rite of Affirmation of Baptism

P: You have made public profession of your faith. Do you intend to continue in the covenant Gad made with you in holy baptism:

  • to live among God’s faithful people,
  • to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper,
  • to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed,
  • to serve all people, following the example of Jesus,
  • and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?

Confirmands: I do, and I ask God to help and guide me.

Confirmation at Bethlehem is a ministry of mentoring youth as they grow in their relationship with God, to ask the deeper questions of life and faith, and to grow together as a Christian community of young people.

We want to see the youth of Bethlehem Lutheran Church – together with their families – living out their baptismal calling through the life-long Faith Practices of:

  • Prayer
  • Study
  • Worship
  • Giving
  • Serving
  • Encouraging
  • Inviting other to join us in following Jesus.

At Bethlehem, Confirmation is a two and a half year process that begins in 7th grade, and completes in February of a youth’s 9th grade year on Confirmation Sunday, when youth say Yes to God who said Yes to them on the cross, the God who said Yes to us in our Baptism, the God who says Yes to us every day of our lives.
