Jesus Messiah
Lord of all, the Lord of all
á Confession and Forgiveness
P Trusting in the word of life given in baptism,
we are gathered in the name of the Father,
and of the ☩ Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen
P If we say we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins,
God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins
and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Silence is kept for reflection and self-examination.
P Loving God,
C we fear, we doubt, we do not trust you;
we do not love our neighbors as ourselves;
we sin against you in thought, word, and deed.
We pray for your mercy, forgiveness, and grace.
We hope in the gift of your Spirit
and we rejoice in the resurrection promise
of Jesus Christ, our living Savior. Amen.
P God, who is rich in mercy,
loved us even when we were dead in sin,
and made us alive together with Christ.
By grace you have been saved.
In the name of ☩ Jesus Christ, crucified and risen,
your sins are forgiven.
Almighty God strengthen you with power
through the Holy Spirit,
that Christ may live in your hearts through faith.
C Amen.
Hymn The Day of Resurrection (ELW #361)
John of Damascus, c. 696-c. 754; tr. John Mason Neale, 1818-1866, alt.
1 The day of resurrection!
Earth, tell it out abroad,
the passover of gladness,
the passover of God.
From death to life eternal,
from sin’s dominion free,
our Christ has brought us over
with hymns of victory.
2 Let hearts be purged of evil
that we may see aright
the Lord in rays eternal
of resurrection light,
and list’ning to his accents,
may hear, so calm and plain,
his own “All hail!” and hearing,
may raise the glad refrain.
3 Now let the heav’ns be joyful,
let earth its song begin,
the round world keep high triumph
and all that is therein.
Let all things, seen and unseen,
their notes of gladness blend;
for Christ the Lord has risen,
our joy that has no end!
Prayer of the Day
P Alleluia! Christ is risen.
C Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia!
P The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
C And also with you.
P Let us pray…
C God of resurrection,
Your son, Jesus, awed his followers by appearing among them.
With awe we also celebrate his resurrection and rejoice in eternal life. Amen.
Responsive Reading Psalm 145:13-21
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.
The Lord is faithful in all his words,
and gracious in all his deeds.
14 The Lord upholds all who are falling,
and raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
16 You open your hand,
satisfying the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is just in all his ways,
and kind in all his doings.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of all who fear him;
he also hears their cry, and saves them.
20 The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.

Gospel John 20:19-31
L The Holy Gospel from John in the 20th Chapter
C Glory to you, O Lord
19 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” 22 When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
24 But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.” 28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.

Words of Institution
á Lord’s Prayer
C Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.
